High-Rises in Bangalore: Boon or Bane?

igh Rises in Bangalore, or for that matter anywhere, are a good thing.

In today's news report, we read that the Karnataka High Court tells Bangalore Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to allow high-rises in city.


So far, so good.

However, there are several important things the BBMP must keep in mind:

1. Make available adequate water supplies.
2. Make sufficient provision for hauling garbage away for further treatment.
3. Ensure that these high rises do not exacerbate the already-congested traffic scenario.

I realize the foregoing is not the concern of a High Court, and hope sane minds within BBMP will prevail to deal with these sorts of things.
